The National Group on Homeworking closed in November 2008. We can no longer provide advice, information and support to homeworkers.

National Committee Members

Jill Lyttle
Chair

Jill Lyttle became a member of NGH Board in December 1999, at that time she worked as Outreach Worker for West Yorkshire Homeworking Unit. Jill became a member because she had a keen interest in helping NGH find and secure future funding for the organisation.

I feel that my knowledge and understanding of homeworking issues is very useful and as I am located nearby I can offer support to NGH staff if required.

Cheryl Conlock-Scott
Company Secretary

Cheryl was elected to NGH Committee in August 2004. Cheryl previously worked for West Yorkshire Homeworking Unit and also for New Work Solutions, both organisations working with homeworkers looking at solutions to their situation. Cheryl has a background of working with individuals in employment rights issues and advice work.

My background has mainly been in advising workers of their rights and assisting them to access those rights, this is not always easy and many people need support through the process. NGH does this for homeworkers and I am pleased to be involved in the work NGH do with and on behalf of its members.

Julie Meskimmon
Treasurer

Julie first joined NGH National Committee in October 2001. Julie is Financial Director for a private company and has a wealth of financial experience gained over the years in her working life, much of which is dealing with day-to-day finances for various types of private business. As treasurer she is aware of financial procedures and ensures NGH keep within strict spending budgets and correctly accounts for all funds received and spent by the organisation. She also has experience of working at home as a child minder for many years.

I joined NGH because I feel very strongly that womens work should be recognised and women should be rewarded for the hard work they do, by being an active member I can be involved in the campaigning we do to try and bring about change for homeworkers.

Barry Morris

Barry joined the NGH Board in February 2005. Barry is the former Assistant General Secretary of Community. The Community trade union was formed from the merger of the Iron & Steel Trades Confederation (ISTC) with The Knitwear, Footwear & Apparel Trades Union (KFAT). Barry has extensive experience of working with garment and footwear workers, and helping them organize to ensure their rights are respected. His experience in the trade union movement means he brings a wealth of skills to the NGH committee.

I have for many years been active in the trade union movement and am glad to bring this experience to the NGH committee.

Hayley Woolford

Hayley works as a trainee solicitor, and developed a particular interest in employment law whilst at university. Her dissertation examined the problems of uncertain employment status for atypical workers, with a special focus on homeworkers. Hayley now brings this knowledge and experience to her role on the NGH committee.

I'm glad that my legal skills enable me to make a specific contribution to the work of NGH. Employment law, and particularly the uncertain status of homeworkers, is of real concern to me, but I'm also glad to help NGH with the day-to-day legal issues of running an organization.
